Clayton Kershaw's new contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers allows him to earn up to $37.5 million over two seasons, with the amount determined by how many starts he makes following shoulder surgery.

Kershaw, a three-time National League Cy Young Award winner who turns 36 on March 19, is guaranteed $10 million under the agreement disclosed Friday.

 He might earn up to $12.5 million this year and $25 million by 2025.Kershaw's salary this year is $5 million, with a potential $7.5 million 

in performance bonuses for starts or relief appearances of three or more innings, according to his contract.

He would receive $1 million for six, $1.5 million for seven, eight, and nine, and $2 million for ten, according to details acquired by The Associated Press.

Kershaw has a $5 million player option for 2025, which, assuming he remains healthy at the end of the 2024 season,

 may be increased by $15 million based on the same criterion of starts or relief outings of three or more innings: $2 million for six, $3 million for seven, eight, and nine,
