The Country Music Association Award for Entertainer of the Year was something that Lainey Wilson received two days before the announcement of the GRAMMY nominations for 2024.
This was a significant event that established her position as one of the most prominent stars in country music.
“That was probably one of the very first moments where I was like, Wow, my life is changing,” Wilson shares with GRAMMY.com.
On the other hand, I believe that the years in which nothing happened have adequately prepared me for something like that. It is a sensation that can be described as “slow and steady wins the race.”
Because her competitors included industry heavyweights such as Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood, and Morgan Wallen, Wilson’s victory surprised her just as much
as it could have surprised others who were watching it. However, it was not unjustifiable in any way.
In the year 2023, Wilson became the first woman to achieve the top spot on the country charts four times in a single calendar year. She also led her tour, which was completely sold out
and she performed approximately 190 performances, including providing direct support for Combs’ stadium tour.
