Kyle Trask May Replace Baker Mayfield Following Injury: Analysis

Following Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles' disclaimer about Baker Mayfield's ankle injury, Kyle Trask could take over for him.

"I know he's pretty sore right now," Bowles told reporters on Monday. "We'll attempt to give him a rest throughout the week and see how he feels. "I have to see how he moves."

Mayfield suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, but he returned to the game after Trask made three plays.

While Mayfield's MRI came back negative, Bowles' open-ended review of his condition may lead to another opportunity for Trask.

In his three-year career, the former second-round NFL Draft pick has spent little time on the field.

Trask has only 13 career snaps in two games, but Mayfield considers Trask a viable backup.

"There is no doubt about it," Mayfield told JoeBucsFan.com.
