NFL Staff Rumored to Include Michigan Assistant Coach

According to reports, a coach will switch between the Harbaugh staff.

Former Michigan employee Doug Mallory is joining the Baltimore Ravens as a defensive backs coach, according to Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. 

Following three seasons as Jim Harbaugh's defensive analyst, he will now play for John Harbaugh in the NFL.

Mallory's time at Ann Arbor included witnessing the Wolverines scare collegiate offenses. In an unbeaten season that culminated in a national championship, they gave up just 247 yards per game.

From his beginnings as an Indiana graduate assistant in 1988, Mallory has worked as a coach at several different locations.

He spent two seasons as the defensive coordinator for Western Kentucky before working as the defensive backs coach for LSU, Indiana, Maryland, and Oklahoma State.

Before Mallory had the position to himself in New Mexico, Les Miles elevated him to co-defensive coordinator at Baton Rouge. In2011, he moved back to Indiana.

Mallory would make further NFL attempts in the future. From 2017 to 2020, he worked as a defensive backs coach and defensive assistant for the Atlanta Falcons for four seasons.

For 27 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Bill Mallory, his father, won 167 games. of those years, he was a member of the Hoosiers.
