Report: Deion Sanders Hires NFL Coach as Defensive Coordinator

Colorado's head coach, Deion Sanders, is getting closer to appointing a defensive coordinator for the 2024 season.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Cincinnati Bengals secondary coach Robert Livingston will do an interview with Sanders on Wednesday.

He is likely to become the Buffaloes' new defensive coordinator. "Bengals secondary coach Robert Livingston is in Colorado today speaking with Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders and

he's expected to be named their new defensive coordinator," said reporter Ian Rapoport. "A Lou Anarumo discipline, he's an impressive young coach."

Livingston will succeed Charles Kelly, who departed Colorado this offseason to become Auburn's co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach.

Sanders made it clear from away that he wanted to hire a coach with NFL experience. It all became evident when Ed Reed and Mike Zimmer were linked to the job opportunity.

Livingston's name may not be as well-known as Reed or Zimmer's, but his resume is undeniably impressive. During his time in Cincinnati, he brought out the best in defensive backs Vonn Bell, Jessie Bates, Dax Hill, and Mike Hilton.

This past season, Colorado allowed 276.9 passing yards per game. The secondary should, at the very least, improve under Livingston's leadership.
