Tom Holland Starring in London West End Revival of ‘Romeo and Juliet’

Tom Holland is hanging up his spandex and taking on Shakespeare's most famous tragic lover.

That's right, the hero of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" will portray Romeo this summer on London's West End. The production of "Romeo & Juliet" will most likely differ from previous classical, tights-heavy renditions.

That's because Jamie Lloyd, who brought his minimalist, stripped-down style to stuffy classics like "Cyrano de Bergerac," "The Seagull," and "A Doll's House," is in charge of the revival.

They've also attracted big names such as James McAvoy, Emilia Clarke, Tom Hiddleston, and Jessica Chastain. "A Doll's House" was nominated for several Tony Awards last year.

Lloyd's performance is touted as a "pulsating new vision of Shakespeare's immortal tale of wordsmiths, rhymers, lovers, and fighters.

"Holland announced the news over social media. The limited run will last 12 weeks and begin performances in May.

There is no indication yet on who will portray Juliet alongside Holland, but the actor's involvement makes this an instant hot ticket.

Holland made his stage debut as the titular character in "Billy Elliot: The Musical." "Tom Holland is one of the greatest, most exciting young actors in the world," Lloyd stated. "It is an honor to welcome him back to the West End."
