'Yellowstone' and '1883' Fans, Get Ready: 'Lawmen: Bass Reeves' Already Looks Beyond Epic

The Yellowstone franchise has numerous stories to tell, including the one about the historic figure Bass Reeves.

Before viewers could delve into the rich history of the Dutton family in the Yellowstone prequels 1883 (which premiered in December 2021) and 1923 (which aired in December 2022 and received a season 2 renewal)

creator Taylor Sheridan revealed that he was already working on another project about the "greatest frontier hero."

After 1883 showed how John Dutton (Kevin Costner)'s great-great-grandfather James Dutton (Tim McGraw) traveled from Tennessee to Montana,

many were heartbroken to learn that Elsa's (Isabel May) death landed the family in Paradise Valley.

Although 1883 was initially intended to be a limited series of ten hour-long episodes,

with Bass Reeves serving as season two, new ideas for a new anthology series dubbed Lawmen: Bass Reeves have recently emerged.

David Oyelowo stars in the new program, which is called a "offshoot" of 1883. If this seems exciting, stay reading to learn more about Lawmen: Bass Reeves.
